Imagine being the Captain of your own star ship. Come join us with your crew and fly around the galaxy in a star ship, killing bad guys, being amazed by space dragons, and avoiding black holes! Operate the ship together, and defend the sector from evil aliens.

Artemis simulates a spaceship bridge by networking several computers together. One computer runs the simulation and the main screen, while the others serve as workstations for the normal jobs a bridge officer might do, like Helm, Communication, Science, Engineering, and Weapon Control. Artemis is a social game where several players are together in one room (bridge) , and while they all work together, one player plays the Captain, a person who sits in the middle and tells everyone what to do.

We will have 2 full bridges and some fighter stations, so you can do joint or head to head missions.

GIANT Carcassone
Friday November 15, 2024 12:00pm - 1:00pm MST
It's just like regular Carcassonne, but GIANT!  Carcassonne is a tile-placement game in which the players draw and place a tile with a piece of southern French landscape on it. The tile might feature a city, a road, a cloister, grassland or some combination thereof, and it must be placed adjacent to tiles that have already been played, in such a way that cities are connected to cities, roads to roads, etcetera. Having placed a tile, the player can then decide to place one of their meeples on one of the areas on it: on the city as a knight, on the road as a robber, on a cloister as a monk, or on the grass as a farmer. When that area is complete, that meeple scores points for its owner.

GIANT Cascadia
Friday November 15, 2024 4:00pm - 6:00pm MST
Cascadia is a puzzly tile-laying and token-drafting game featuring the habitats and wildlife of the Pacific Northwest.  This game is just like regular Cascadia, but GIANT!!!

In the game, you take turns building out your own terrain area and populating it with wildlife. You start with three hexagonal habitat tiles (with the five types of habitat in the game), and on a turn you choose a new habitat tile that's paired with a wildlife token, then place that tile next to your other ones and place the wildlife token on an appropriate habitat. (Each tile depicts 1-3 types of wildlife from the five types in the game, and you can place at most one tile on a habitat.) Four tiles are on display, with each tile being paired at random with a wildlife token, so you must make the best of what's available — unless you have a nature token to spend so that you can pick your choice of each item.

On each turn dice are rolled to determine what resources the island produces. The 2024 Arizona State SHOBU Championship
Saturday November 16, 2024 9:00am - 12:00pm MST
A beautifully crafted 2-player abstract strategy game from Smirk & Laughter. Your turn is in two parts. First, a player may move one of their stones up to two spaces in any direction, including diagonally, in what is called a passive (or set up) move. Second, they take a more aggressive move, which must be the same direction and number of spaces as the first move. It is this second move that allows you to push stones across the board - or off the board's edge. Remove all four of your opponent's stones from just one of the four boards to win. The winner of this tournament will get a trophy, a copy of the game, plus a seat at the final round of the West Coast Regional Championship at RAGECON 2025 (as well as a free badge to RAGECON 2025)!

Math Trade and Virtual Flea Market Exchange
Saturday November 16, 2024 11:00am - 12:00pm MST
This event is intended as an easy meetup time for folks who participated in the online Math Trade and/or Virtual Flea Market to exchange items. All exchanges for this meetup have been pre-arranged, so if you have no idea what a Math Trade or Virtual Flea Market are, you can ignore this :) If you're interested in buying or selling at a flea market during RinCon, check out the Used Game Flea Market on Saturday at 2-4!

For folks doing exchanges, we will plan to meet near the Quick Play Zone just inside the main gaming hall. You are more than welcome to arrange another meetup time for your individual trades, but please communicate with your trade partners if you know you will not be able to attend this event. You are also welcome to send someone else to complete your trades, but again, please communicate this ahead of time with your trade partners.

The 2024 Arizona State Bohnanza Championship
Saturday November 16, 2024 11:00am - 1:00pm MST
Plant, then harvest bean cards in order to earn coins. Each player starts with a hand of random bean cards, and each card has a number on it corresponding to the number of that type of beans in the deck. You can't rearrange the order of cards in hand, so you must use them in the order that you've picked them up from the deck - unless you can trade them to other players, which is the heart of the game. The winner of this tournament will get a trophy, a copy of the game, plus a seat at the final round of the West Coast Regional Championship at RAGECON 2025 (as well as a free badge to RAGECON 2025)!

Blood on the Clocktower is a bluffing game enjoyed by 5 to 20 players on opposing teams of Good and Evil, overseen by a Storyteller player who conducts the action and makes crucial decisions. The goal of the game is to successfully deduce and execute the demons before they outnumber the townfolk. During a 'day' phase players socialize openly and whisper privately to trade knowledge or spread lies, culminating in a player's execution if a majority suspects them of being Evil. During a 'night' time, players close their eyes and are woken one at a time by the Storyteller to gather information, spread mischief, or kill.

Speed BG Design: Whose Die Is It Anyway?
Saturday November 16, 2024 4:00pm - 6:00pm MST
Kind of like "Whose Line Is It, Anyway" for game designers. Watch and participate as our illustrious team of board game designers (James Ernest of Crab Fragment Labs and Emily Vincent of Pink Hawk Games) come up with silly new games from scratch. The twist is that you, the audience, get to add to the fun by submitting concepts, mechanics, and materials along the way that they must then build into the final products.

"Sooo, it's a dice drafting game... about taco trucks that are really a front for DC-based spies... and we're supposed to incorporate WHAT?!?"

Hilarity will ensue, we feel certain!

Throughout the weekend, we’ll have a table stocked with a variety of games available for trade (board games, card game, RPG's, etc.). Attendees are invited to bring a gently used game or two from home and swap it for any other item on the table. Please ensure that the items you leave are complete and in good condition, ready to be enjoyed by someone else. Don’t see something you want right away? No worries! The inventory is expected to change continuously throughout the weekend, so check back later for new options.

UnPub - Festoon
Sunday November 17, 2024 9:00am - 10:00am MST
When bees are creating honeycomb, they connect their legs together to form a chain, called a festoon. In this game, players compete the be the first to form a festoon. Players take turns placing hexagonal bee tiles adjacent to the other tiles on the table one at a time. The first player who places four bees in a straight line wins.

As players create advantageous patterns and block others, Festoon becomes a game of competitive cooperation. Players must decide whether it is more advantageous to block another player's festoon or set themselves up for victory. The simple rules and strategic gameplay mean that anybody can play it, but victory can only be achieved by the player whose strategy comes out on top.

Sunday November 17, 2024 10:00am - 11:00am MST

The 2024 Arizona State Dimension Championship
Sunday November 17, 2024 10:00am - 1:00pm MST
A fast-paced, innovative puzzle game that takes place in three dimensions with 60 colorful spheres. All of the players play at the same time. Complete these tasks while racing against the timer. You get a point for each sphere you use and a bonus token for using all five colors, but you lose two points for each task card you don't follow correctly. Prove to your opponents that you are the master of multi-dimensional thinking! The winner of this tournament will get a trophy, a copy of the game, plus a seat at the final round of the West Coast Regional Championship at RAGECON 2025 (as well as a free badge to RAGECON 2025)!

GIANT Asteroyds!
Sunday November 17, 2024 11:00am - 1:00pm MST
Asteroyds is a racing and pre-program game similar to RoboRally but with enough significant differences to make it stand out as its own design.

The UAG designed the components from the ground up with over 40 3D printed parts and a massive 3x4 ft map!

Each player takes on the role of a famous Shuttle Racer Pilot and they have been drawn to a deadly event put on by a mega-rich entrepreneur that has recently bought the Ujitos system.

The aim of Asteroyds is to navigate the highly dangerous asteroid field and pass through four gates. What sets the game apart from other games of this design is that almost everything in the race zone can move position, so the players need to plan with that in mind.

DCC for EDP: Brendan LaSalle GMs an improv game for charity
Sunday November 17, 2024 2:00pm - 5:00pm MST
This year, RinCon is partnering with the Diana Jones Award’s Emerging Designer Program. This is a scholarship fund to amplify the voices of up-and-coming designers, with a focus on creators from marginalized communities. Help us help the EDP bring fresh, new, and diverse voices to the tabletop games community.

So, what IS this event? Watch in awe and amazement as Brendan LaSalle, creator of Xcrawl, writer on Dungeon Crawl Classics from Goodman Games, and GM extraordinaire, leads a group of RinCon luminaries on a madcap adventure through a Dungeon Crawl Classics world. The twist? For a donation to the EDP fund, you, the audience, will get to throw in whatever idea, concept, or event you like, and Brendan will have to incorporate it into the session on the fly, and our special guest players will have to roll with it! We promise, hilarity will ensue! And one lucky RinCon attendee will have a chance to play in this game, too - there will be a silent auction for the final player seat at the table.
